Construction

The City is using a collaborative “Progressive Design Build” delivery approach to construct the project in order to minimize traffic impacts and ensure the project is completed efficiently and cost-effectively.

In the summer 2022, crews are conducting preliminary geological assessments and defining the wetland boundary along Boeckman Creek, followed by topographic survey, and utility potholing to prepare for design and construction.

When bridge construction begins in 2023, Boeckman Road will be closed between Canyon Creek and Sherman Drive for up to 15 months. Temporary signals, detours, and other traffic controls will be used to minimize delays and to protect those working in the construction zone. Additional details will be provided as planning gets underway.

Funding

The majority of the project funding is provided through the Year 2000 Urban Renewal district, Transportation and Wastewater System Development Charges (SDC), and Frog Pond Infrastructure Funds. SDC’s are one-time fees paid by developers at the time of development that cover the cost of transportation and wastewater facilities needed to serve growth.
