Streetscape Concepts Survey
Introduction
The City of Wilsonville is developing a streetscape plan that establishes design guidelines for sidewalks and streets, including items such as street furniture, lighting fixtures, landscaping, public art placement and pavement design. The completed plan will create a distinct look and feel for Town Center streets. Over time, the new streetscape will be critical in fostering a strong sense of place for residents, employees and visitors.
Utilizing feedback from the November 2020 public forum, along with additional input from Planning Commission and City Council, the project team developed three design concepts that, with your feedback, will influence the draft Streetscape Plan.
What we’ve heard so far
Based on public feedback and Planning Commission and City Council input, the following themes and priorities emerged that have helped guide the design process and have been incorporated into the current design concepts. Consider the community feedback received thus far, note how well the refined streetscape concepts address the themes and priorities, and whether there are additional items that have not been mentioned that the project team should consider incorporating as the concepts move forward.
The three streetscape concepts are meant to evoke a particular theme related to Wilsonville and utilize materials and features that have been noted as general design preferences by the community in other design related outreach efforts.
- Agricultural Legacy - Prior to the City's incorporation, much of the land that is currently within or adjacent to city limits was used for agricultural or equestrian purposes. This theme evokes the past with rustic materials and patterns yet utilizes clean lines for an overall contemporary look.
- Technological Innovation - With many high-tech firms located within Wilsonville the Technological Innovation concept builds on this by incorporating modern materials and geometric patterns that would provide a modern futuristic look for the streetscape.
- River Environment - The Willamette River runs through the City and an important asset for its natural beauty and for the recreational opportunities it provides. The River theme utilizes curvilinear forms and a natural materials to evoke the nearby river in the future streetscapes of Town Center.
Feedback from this survey will help determine which elements from each concept will move forward and become part of the final streetscape design.
