Charbonneau community members have expressed a desire for better and safer walking, biking, and golf carting options along French Prairie Road. Residents have shared that the existing French Prairie pathway is incomplete, too narrow, significantly deteriorated, inaccessible, and does not sufficiently serve the needs to the Charbonneau community, with many people choosing instead to walk in the street. The existing pathway requires significant investment just to keep it in a usable condition.

The French Prairie Road Pathway Plan will ask Charbonneau community members to help select walking and biking improvements along the full length of French Prairie Road to improve the safety and livability of the community. Through several planned events, surveys, and activities over the next six months, Charbonneau community members will evaluate different pathway options to identify improvements that meet the community’s needs. This will allow Wilsonville leadership to plan for and fund the resulting pathway plan.

  • Share Your Input on French Prairie Pathway Options

    The City of Wilsonville and Wallis Engineering appreciate your input on design alternatives for French Prairie Road. The designs presented attempt to provide a solution that meets the following goals/concerns expressed by community members:

    1. A continuous pedestrian route should span the length of French Prairie Road
    2. People walking in the roadway mixed with cars is unsafe.
    3. Something should be done about vehicle speeding.
    4. The existing pathway isn’t adequate for walkers and has unsafe/difficult sections
    5. Trees should be protected
    6. Maintenance access needs must be considered
    7. Delivery vehicles for business community should be accommodated
    8. Improvements should be cost-effective and financially achievable.
    9. Emergency vehicles must be accommodated
