Charbonneau community members have expressed a desire for better and safer walking, biking, and golf carting options along French Prairie Road. Residents have shared that the existing French Prairie pathway is incomplete, too narrow, significantly deteriorated, inaccessible, and does not sufficiently serve the needs of the Charbonneau community, with many people choosing instead to walk in the street. The existing pathway requires significant investment just to keep it in a usable condition.

The French Prairie Road Pathway Plan is asking Charbonneau residents to help select walking and biking improvements along French Prairie Road to improve the safety and livability of the community. Through several planned events, surveys, and activities, Charbonneau community members will evaluate different pathway options to identify improvements that meet the community's needs. This feedback allows Wilsonville's leadership to plan for and fund the community's preferred pathway plan.

The video presentation above presents several options under consideration. Soon a survey will be available for residents to provide detailed input on their preferences. Stay tuned!

    Share Your Input on French Prairie Pathway Options

    The City of Wilsonville and Wallis Engineering would appreciate your feedback on possible alternative designs for the French Prairie Road Pathway Project.  The design solutions being presented attempt to provide a design solution that meets the following goals/concerns as expressed by the community through the initial outreach in 2024: 

    1. The community wants a continuous route for pedestrians and bicycles along the length of French Prairie Road.
    2. People walking in the roadway mixed with cars is unsafe.
    3. Something should be done about vehicle speeding.
    4. The existing pathway isn’t adequate for walkers and has unsafe/difficult sections.
    5. Protect trees.
    6. Provide for maintenance access needs.
    7. Accommodate delivery vehicles for the business community.
    8. Prepare improvements that are cost-effective and financially achievable.
    9. Ensure emergency vehicle accommodation.
