Can someone place a portable basketball hoop on city streets?

    jasonabernathy75 asked 12 months ago

April 24, 2023: Generally, portable hoops should NOT be placed on City streets. They can pose a safety hazard, particularly at night without reflectors on all sides. That said, if your neighbors don't object and you're in a low-traffic area where no real hazard is posed, it's probably not a problem.

Is it possible that the city can turn the old Fry's Electronics store into either more housing (such as rebuilding the existing building into apartments) or into a hospital that serves the local community so city residents don't have to travel long distance for medical care?

OregonianOsprey asked almost 2 years ago

June 5, 2022: The City's adopted Town Center Plan envisions that the area is developed to included mixed-use buildings that include residential units. The plan includes specific guidelines that must be followed by would-be developers if/when the property is sold. As for health care, once sufficient demand is identified by health care providers, market-driven action may be taken. At least one parcel of land in Town Center is owned by a health care provider for future expansion.

Is the glossy plastic material that the City is now using for US Mail notifications recyclable and more is it more expensive than standard paper stock?

Ev Lapp asked over 2 years ago

June 5, 2022: Everett, didn't get to this question previously (apologies), but got the question again when the May 2022 issue of the Boones Ferry Messenger was printed on a coated stock. The good news first: yes, it is recyclable. The bad news: it is more expensive. In this most recent interest, the change took place because our printer had trouble locating the paper typically used because of supply chain issues. Our preference is the non-coated and less expensive paper.

Hello and thank you for providing this Q&A resource . Villebois controversial park 7 & 8 are still not completed ? Curious about the expected timeline now for the completion of theses parks ? Also would like to know what environmental improvements are planned between park 8(I believe?) and sw 110 st to the west. I believe sw 110 st will be removed however to my understanding improvements are supposed to be made to the open flood zone between . Thank you .

Ed asked almost 2 years ago

    Thanks for the question, Ed.

Taylor Morrison, the contractor managing the construction of the parks, has identified early September as the tentative completion date for Regional Park 8.  At Regional Park 7, to the west, our crews are currently mitigating an outbreak of invasive reed canary grass.  After the canary grass is removed, new paths are being installed with native plantings, large woody debris and a gazebo. This area needs to dry out before work can commence. The current expectation is that  Park 7 is to be completed by the end of October.

When southbound on Town Center Loop W, by Chipotle, and turning left onto Wilsonville Rd, the left lane light is a solid green, making many drivers expect the oncoming traffic to have the right-of-way. However, their light is red. Could that left lane be changed to a green arrow to reduce confusion?

ChrisH asked over 2 years ago

October 14, 2021: Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Chris. The City doesn’t have many split phase signals like the one at this intersection, so any additional direction we can provide drivers is a good thing.  Your suggestion of adding a green left turn arrow to this signal head is a great idea, and we will add it to our signal improvement project list. Because the list of traffic signal needs is long (with limited funding for this type of work) we can put it in the queue, but are unable to provide a timeline to complete this improvement. Thanks again.

Did funding get cut again for Regional Park 7 and 8? There is work on it for a short period of time and then nothing happens until another year goes by. Is this process going to continue to happen this year again? Blame is always put on somebody or funding. Cost go up because it shouldn't take 5 years to build a park.

Fletch asked over 2 years ago

Aug. 9, 2021: Thanks for the question and concern. My understanding is that the current delay is to allow the contractor to re-bit the final phase of the project to ensure competitive construction pricing. Once new contracts are in place, the project is expected to proceed to completion.

Hello! I was wondering if Wilsonville had anything planned in September for Hispanic Heritage Month? I'd love to be updated if there was anything being planned.

alexandher asked over 2 years ago

July 28, 2021: That's a great question to be asking. While we don't have a definitive answer at this time, it's probably safe to say any event we were to host would be on a rather small scale, both because of COVID and timing. That said, the City recently executed a small Juneteenth event on short notice, thanks to the work of a few motivated members of our new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. As their work gets further along, we hope they'll become an instrumental part of guiding the City toward a more inclusive schedule of community events. We'll forward your question to the committee; and perhaps they are able to consider a Hispanic Heritage Month event (if not this year than in the years ahead). Stay tuned. Thanks.

Is it ok in the city of Wilsonville to burn trash in your backyard? Are there restrictions/limitations?

emrusso asked almost 3 years ago

May 26, 2021: According to this pamphlet from the Oregon DEQ, State of Oregon regulations prohibit the open burning of any material that creates dense smoke or noxious odors.

    This includes:

    • Plastics, like foam cups, meat trays and egg containers
    • Asbestos
    • Tires or other rubber products
    • Garbage and food waste
    • Wire insulation
    • Waste oil and other petroleum products
    • Automobile parts, including frames
    • Animal remains

Burning household waste is prohibited altogether in certain areas by DEQ.Their website lists a phone # for assistance in determining regulations for your county of residence: 503-229-5263.

Can you provide some timelines on the Villebois Regional Parks 7 & 8 completion. There are no project planning minutes that I can find available on the website. Based on Wilsonville project website the completion date was originally schedule for late 2018?

Steve S asked almost 3 years ago

May 26, 2021: Multiple changes in the contractor’s project manager, the escalating cost of materials and labor, and funding restraints.have contributed to delays. During last year’s FY 2020-21 budget meetings (shortly after the onset of COVID-19) the project budget was substantially cut in anticipation of revenue loss.

Fortunately, the FY 2021-22 budget approved last week by the Budget Committee includes $1M to finish the park. Adoption of the budget is on the Council’s June 7 docket. This would put the project on schedule to be substantially complete by late summer/early fall. Landscaping and irrigation installation are beginning in the next week or so. The basketball court is being prepped and the restroom is being modified for fiber and controllers for irrigation. Taylor Morrison, our contractor, is in the process of finalizing a new timeline to complete the elements still pending, which include shelters, a playground and an overlook.

What is the process to request a crosswalk and push button lighted crosswalk sign? Pedestrians crossing Barber at San Miquel (located in Villebois) cannot be seen by drivers heading east on barber as they exit the traffic circle and accelerate down Barber..

Steve S asked almost 3 years ago

May 10, 2021: Thanks for the question. The City has a multi-disciplinary "Traffic Concern Team" that meets periodically to consider how and where to address traffic flow and public safety concerns on City roadways. The most expedient way to advocate for this crosswalk is to email the group with some information (and photos, if possible) to help them better see and understand your concerns.
