Did you know that the City of Wilsonville has a dedicated funding source for small community improvement projects?

The Community Enhancement Program provides funding annually to organizations for projects that improve the city's appearance or environmental quality, increase reuse and recycling opportunities or improve recreational areas and programs.

We invite community members to suggest project ideas below by Dec. 16, 2022. Any suitable projects that could be sponsored by the City or a community organization would be required to be submitted by the sponsoring organization before the Jan. 13, 2023, deadline.

Proposals are evaluated by the Wilsonville-Metro Community Enhancement Committee, which includes City Councilors Joann Linville and Ben West, four appointed community members (Amy Day, Jordan Herron, Natasha Hancock and Sageera Oravil Abdulla Koya) and a Metro Councilor.

Up to $80,000 is expected to be available for allocation by the Committee; award announcements are expected in late spring. This Metro program is funded by a per-ton charge on biodegradable solid-waste processed at the waste-transfer facility operated by Republic Services.

Recent Community Enhancement Projects include:

  • Memorial Park nature play area
  • Memorial Park dog park relocation
  • “Bee Stewards” pollinator improvement project
  • Beauty and the Bridge Interpretive Signs
  • Arts, Heritage and Culture Strategic Plan development

City staff have sponsored several of these recent projects. This year, the City and the Community Enhancement Committee are actively seeking an increase in community-led projects from individuals or organizations who have identified a need that falls within the broad scope for which funds can be used.

This includes:

  • Improving the appearance or environmental quality of the community.
  • Reducing the amount or toxicity of waste and increase reuse and recycling opportunities.
  • Upgrading property owned or operated by a nonprofit organization.
  • Preserving or enhancing wildlife habitat, riparian zones, wetlands, forest lands, and/or improving the public awareness and access.
  • Expanding recreational areas and programs.
  • Benefiting under-served populations.

So, what's YOUR big idea? We'd love to hear it! Share suggestions on the ideas board below for the City's consideration OR have your organization contact project coordinator Zoe Mombert for a 1-on-1 meeting to initiate your nomination.
