The Stormwater Stewards Recognition Program was designed to acknowledge individuals and businesses who have been exceptional in the management of stormwater facilities on private property. Whether residential, commercial, or industrial, the City of Wilsonville relies on property owners to do the bulk of the maintenance required to meet the requirements of our National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit, allowing stormwater discharge from the city limits into the Willamette River. Properly maintained stormwater facilities not only reduce pollution in runoff to local streams and rivers, but they also help with the bottom line by avoiding possible flooding damage or disruption from facility underperformance or failure.
Recognizing entities for their stellar stormwater management efforts highlights a commitment to environmentalism, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. It is the city’s goal that this recognition program will promote positive environmental impact across industries and neighborhoods, helping foster an ethos of best management practices and stewardship of local natural resources.
