The Brown Road Improvements Project was identified in the Transportation System Master Plan as Urban Upgrade Project UU-03, and approved in the West Side Urban Renewal Plan.

Field data collection has begun along Brown Road. Residents may observe surveyors, survey stakes and paint marks along the corridor.

This project, scheduled to be completed in 2026, provides urban upgrades to bring Brown Road in closer alignment with the City's standards for urban roadways. The section to be upgraded includes approximately 1,800 feet of roadway from SW Wilsonville Rd. to SW Evergreen Dr.

The planned upgrades will improve connectivity by adding a shared use path and reconstructing the road to accommodate better and safer access to adjacent neighborhoods.

This project is to be informed by the input of neighbors and other interested parties. The next opportunity to learn more and weigh in comes at a Dec. 3 open house (see details below).

What does the Brown Road Improvements Project entail? 

While project managers anticipate that public engagement will inform the roadway design, anticipated improvements include the addition of bike lanes, sidewalks, and turn lanes that accommodate safer access to adjacent neighborhoods. 

When does construction begin? 

Construction is currently anticipated to begin in Spring 2026. 

How will construction impact neighbors? 

The goal is to accommodate urban upgrades within the existing public right of way to the extent it is possible. As the City engages with neighbors and interested parties, the project team will evaluate design alternatives and share how they would impact residents. As construction nears, a construction plan will be developed to minimize construction impacts. 

How will the City keep the community informed and engaged in the project? 

The City is committed to keeping neighbors, the traveling public, and the broader community informed about the project and its impacts. Expect updates to the project web page, targeted mailings, fliers, and/or door hangers to those in/near the project area, social media, public open houses, and articles in the Boones Ferry Messenger. 

How can residents participate in the process? 

The community's engagement ensures that City projects meet the public's needs and values. Community feedback is considered throughout the project. As opportunities arise for the community to provide input, they will be shared on the project web page, via e-newsletter, social media, and in the Boones Ferry Messenger.

    Having lived just off of Brown road for about 5 years, a couple common topics discussed with our neighbors has been around the safety of those using Brown road not in a vehicle, and the lighting and speed issues we see and hear weekly. There are many families, adults and kids that travel on foot and bike around and on Brown road to head to school, see a friend or walk their dog, where better sidewalks would be beneficial, but also so would better lighting. There are few too little street lamps to illuminate bikers and pedestrians that are traveling... Continue reading

    I have lived on Brown Road for over 16 years now and the main thing that raises an issue for me is that it appears some of the improvements on the east side of the street, mainly from 29670 SW Brown and northward, take parking spots away from private property landlords. While I understand Wilsonville isn't fond of catering to cars, existing parking availability should not be compromised, as parking is already at a premium in this area.
